¹² For the inhabitant of ^[a]Maroth
Writhes ^(A)in waiting for good
Because a ^[b]calamity has come down from Yahweh
To the ^(B)gate of Jerusalem.
¹³ Harness the chariot to the team of horses,
O inhabitant of ^(C)Lachish—
She was the beginning of sin
To the daughter of Zion—
Because in you were found
The ^(D)transgressions of Israel.
¹⁴ Therefore you will give parting ^(E)gifts
On behalf of ^[c]Moresheth-gath;
The houses of ^[d](F)Achzib will become a ^(G)deception
To the kings of Israel.
